Franklin Water Treatment and Shawn Massie Secure Two New Patents Advancing Innovation in Water Treatment Technology

Franklin Water Treatment is pleased to announce the issuance of two new patents, further demonstrating the company's commitment to innovation, product reliability, and serviceability within the water treatment industry.

The first patent covers the Media Boost Distributor Basket, an innovative design concept originally envisioned by Shawn Massie more than a decade ago. Developed in collaboration with Franklin's engineering team, Phil Ludlow, and Franklin's testing laboratory, the Media Boost Distributor Basket was engineered to deliver exceptional strength, durability, and performance.

Since its market introduction nearly two years ago, the Media Boost Distributor Basket has maintained a flawless performance record with no reported field failures. Distributor basket failures can result in significant downtime, costly media replacement, and extensive system cleanup. The Media Boost design addresses these challenges by providing a robust solution that enhances system reliability and reduces maintenance concerns for customers.

The second patent covers a Backplate Adapter for the Clack® Valve, Shawn Massie stated it’s designed to simplify maintenance and improve service efficiency. The adapter enables technicians to remove the entire powerhead assembly without removing valve cover, board, and drive bracket assembly to gain access to the drive cap for piston and seal removal. This significantly reduces service time and complexity.

Franklin Water Treatment has partnered with Clack Corporation to develop production tooling for the new adapter. Manufacturing is expected to begin next year, bringing this innovative solution to customers throughout the water treatment industry.
